About Gill
Gill Farr had always loved sewing, but with a full-time job as a set decorating buyer in the film industry, she had no time to explore the potential of her hobby.
Earlier this year she decided to step back from film studios to create Gillian Bennett Bags, allowing her to stay busy, creative and challenged.
Her job meant she could build a collection of fabrics which otherwise would have been discarded at the end of filming.
She decided to re-purpose these beautiful materials, making tote bags, handbags, shopping and beach bags, as well as using fabrics from brocantes, fairs and markets near her home in Sandwich.
Each is individually designed and made by hand.
Many will be unique or limited run owing to the scarcity of some fabrics, others will be from readily-available materials and can be back-ordered if not available from stock.
Gill is also happy to work to commission.
